Wilted Collards Greens With Bacon and Onion

Posted: 10 Oct 2013 12:13 PM PDT

Delicious wilted collard greens ... the prefect balance of salty bacon, sweet onion and bitter greens. Serve with beef, fish, chicken or by itself with a loaf of crusty bread and other vegetables! Wonderful side item or main dish! -- posted by CarolinaCookingGal

Chicken Gumbo - Low Carb

Posted: 10 Oct 2013 12:17 PM PDT

Delicious Low-Carb Chicken Gumbo from Prevention Magazines cookbook "Smart Low-Carb Living Made Easy". I buy the diced ham in the deli section and use diced tomatoes with green chili's (rather than the crushed tomatoes) to give it a bit more of a kick, in addition to the ground red pepper. -- posted by Chef #372537

Dog Treats - Pet Puffs

Adapted from a recipe at Bullwrinkle.com. Still not quite the texture I'm looking for. My dog loves them but he'll work for kibble. I used Wellness Core Turkey, turkey liver, chicken liver flavor canned dog food, 6 oz. but I think pureed liver or peanut butter would also work. 1/2 tsp size takes forever to make - if you make them bigger, cook them longer. -- posted by sheepdoc

Rice Bowl With Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli, Tomatoes &amp

Posted: 10 Oct 2013 09:23 PM PDT

This was one of the San Francisco Chronicles' Chefs Take on Summer to Fall recipes. It sounded good to me. I made some personal modifications and we loved it. Roast whatever fall vegetables you have on hand for this dish. The tomatoes are key, however, as they keep the rice from becoming dry. NOTE: My brown rice is a mixture of brown sushi (medium grain), brown sticky (glutinous) rice and brown basmati which I cooked in a rice cooker, I also used chicken broth instead of water. -- posted by Nado2003
